The Cathedral College traded in 7000 eligible containers at the Containers for Change depot raising just over $700 kickstarting the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton’s appeal for Sr Cecilia Prest’s Woorabinda Ministry.
Throughout the month of October, students and members of the college community filled the blue and green bins located in eating areas and at the College entrances.
Year 11 students volunteered their time after school to process the many juice boxes, flavoured milk, water and soft drink containers collected during lunch and brought in from home.
College Principal Rob Alexander said the Containers for Change initiative is effective and practical for schools to be a part of.
“Schools have the capacity to make an impact through changing habits and a coordinated effort. We're grateful to those who responded to the invitation to be a part of this Diocesan wide campaign for Sr Cecilia’s pastoral work,” he said.
