2023 College Dux Awarded



The 2023 College Dux, Alvin Alex Mathew was awarded his prize at the Senior and Middle School Academic Assemblies which celebrated academic achievements in Semester 2 of 2023.


Alvin achieved an ATAR of 98.05 and will be commencing his study of Bachelor of Medical Science in the highly competitive CQUniversity regional medical program.  Alvin learnt from a young age from his grandparents that we all have special gifts and talents to help others, and it is up to us to choose how we do this. 


Also acknowledged at the Assemblies was 2023 Senior, Matilda Geihe who achieved an overall 'A' for each of her 6 General Subjects.  What an incredible achievement.  Matilda has accepted an offer from James Cook University to study a Bachelor of Geology and will commence her studies in 2025 after having a Gap Year in Germany in 2024. 


In addition, two students achieved 99/100 for a subject they studied.  Stephanie Gray achieved 99/100 for Modern History.  Stephanie has accepted an offer from the University of Queensland to study a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws (Honours).  And Will Hutchieson received 99/100 for Psychology.  Will has accepted an offer from Queensland University of Technology to study a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting).


The whole Senior Class of 2023 were applauded for their high academic achievement, the depth and breadth of university offers accepted, the apprenticeships and traineeships awarded and employment gained. 


316 academic awards were presented across the two assemblies to students from Year 8 to Year 12.  This year an Improvement Award category was introduced to acknowledge students who improved by 1.5 Grade Point Average from Semester 1 to Semester 2.  Congratulations to the 8 students who received these new awards which recognises the perseverance and the achievement of improving.


The College joined with Parents and friends in applauding our students for their academic success and encourage all students to continue to try their very best in their studies.
