The 2020 Apprenticeships have started to be advertised if any student needs any assistance to apply come in and see me.

Work Experience

Work Experience is compulsory in Year 10 at The Cathedral College.  If your student has not yet organised to their Work experience placement they will now have to complete it during the times listed below. Their placement will need to be organised with an Employer within their industry of choice and the completed Work Experience Agreement form returned to the school in Week 1 of Term 3 .  

Available work experience dates:

  • 23 - 27 September, 2019
  • 30 September – 4 October, 2019
  • 2 -6 December, 2019
  • 9 – 13 December, 2019

 

PLEASE NOTE: We have received notification that the WHITE CARD in no longer available via online courses.  I am sorry that we were given no prior notification of this change.  Listed below is a course running prior to the school holidays.  If your student is attending a construction site for their work experience, they will need a white card.

  • New Horizons will be running a course 1 July 7.45- 12pm.  Cost is $100.00 you need to wear closed in shoes.  Enrol via website.

CQU has confirmed 30 September – 4 October, 2019 as our Engineering work experience placement week.  If you are interested and have not yet put your name down to secure your place please contact Ms Clark.  

Vocational Education and Training

Pizza Hut Rockhampton are looking to hire  school based students to complete a Certificate 11 in Retail. These positions are available to students in Years 10 and 11.

The position description includes:

  • Customer Service
  • Taking orders over phone
  • Working the cash register / eftpos
  • General cleaning (windows/tabletops etc.)

The hours worked would be 8 hours per week, with the shifts generally being from 5pm – 8pm.

Traineeship in Process Plant Operations Technician - Gladstone Qld, GAGAL: The successful applicant will gain technical knowledge of refinery process systems, develop skills to operate process facilities and build knowledge of mechanics.

The traineeship will include both theory and practical learning as well as continual support and mentoring throughout your traineeship.

The role will require you to learn how the processing plant and operations work and then get out there and make it work. You will be intimately involved in day to day operation of all aspects of the plant from truck loading to major maintenance activities. You will also be required to work in the site laboratory to ensure product quality is maintained. You will be employed as one of the operators and as your skill and knowledge improve you will be given more responsibilities around site.
