Homework Centre

Homework Centre is held in the College Library after school until 4.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons commencing on Wednesday 30 January.  There is no cost involved and parents/care givers are not required to book students in.  On the rare occasion staff are unable to run Homework Centre, parents/care givers will be informed through email.

Homework Centre is not the same as after school child care.

Students from all year levels are welcome to use Homework Centre to complete homework, work on assignments and to study.   Hard working people in younger year levels might even find that they can finish all required homework, leaving the evening free to spend with their families.

Computer games and computer usage unrelated to study, board games and use of phones for any purpose other than to contact parents/care givers are not permitted.   Homework Centre is not an appropriate place for social interaction.  It is vital that all who attend are able to complete their academic work in a quiet, studious atmosphere.

While some group work may, at times, be appropriate, students will be required to use their quiet “library voice” and to respect the rights of others to learn and study at all times.  Movement within the Library is to be quiet, mindful of the necessity of not disturbing others.

Students sign in and out of Homework Centre, noting times of arrival and departure, even if absence is for short duration (going to lockers, going to Drama Club etc.)  When student ID cards are available, these will be scanned and an electronic record of attendance times will be kept.

Parents/Care givers will be contacted if a student’s behaviour becomes a concern.

Staff operate Homework Centre on a voluntary basis.  Individual teachers may organise to meet groups there while others drop in to see if there is any assistance needed by students completing work in their subject areas.

When a student signs out of Homework Centre, they are no longer under the supervision of Homework Centre staff.  We are unable to leave the venue to accompany students to the Close to wait for parents/care givers.

Parents/Care givers who wish to visit Homework Centre to collect their student(s) are requested to call at Reception first, as is mandatory for visitors entering the College grounds.

Mrs Wolfenden looks forward to assisting new and continuing students this term.
