Cultural News

Thank you to the students and staff in the Music Ministry Group for leading the congregation in song at the TCC/Parish Mass on Saturday evening. The psalm was prayerfully sung by Matthew Romer.

All the best to the students who will be attending the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane during the holidays. The SHEP program gives students the wonderful opportunity to work with professional musicians alongside students from various schools throughout Queensland.  Congratulations to the following students who were selected to participate in this great musical opportunity: Catherine Andersen, Natalie Carroll, Grace Crow, Madison Day, Sophie Neil, Imea Thomas (Voice), Maeve Doolan (Trumpet) and Jayde Ellingsen (Bass Guitar).

The combined presentation of cultural awards and final music evening will take place on Thursday 24 October in the Mercy Centre. The Cultural Awards’ Ceremony will commence at 5.30pm and conclude by 6.30pm. During the brief music evening the three main College ensembles will perform and the year 12 students will be presented with their service medals.

Students will receive certificates for participating in cultural activities throughout the year.  As well as the general participation awards, special awards will be presented to students who represented the college at a regional or state level.  The oratory winners will be presented with their trophies and the evening will culminate with the announcement of the major cultural award winners. School uniforms will be worn. Socks for girls and ties and trousers (if they have them), otherwise shorts, for the boys. Invitations to families of students receiving awards will be emailed at the beginning of next term. Students have been asked to forward the email they received listing their cultural activities to parents.

This is the last cultural news for this term. I will be away for weeks one and two of next term.

I wish all our readers a restful and safe holiday break in readiness for the final 2019 term.
