Congratulations to the students in the Chamber Group who played at the Blessing Ceremony for the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Oncology and CSSD Centre at the Mater Hospital recently.

Catherine Andersen, Georgie Cowan, Imea Thomas and Eamon Beattie gave generously of their time and talents to provide entertainment on this special occasion.

Thank you also to their director, Dr Ayesha Hall.

The Music Ministry Group led the congregation in song at the TCC/Parish Mass last Saturday evening. The psalm was beautifully sung by Sarah Austin.  The group sang this morning at the Ash Wednesday Mass in the Cathedral.  Ewan Beattie prayerfully sang the psalm.

On the weekend four students from TCC competed in the zone round of the Lions Youth of the Year competition: Hannah Clerc (Year 12), Joseph Lewis (Year 12), Isabella Hannay (Year 12) and Ridhi Beotra (Year 10). Students completed a range of tasks, including an interview section where they were asked about their academic, cultural, sporting and community activities, as well as tested on their knowledge of local, state, national and international issues. They also presented two impromptu speeches and a prepared speech. The students all competed to a very high standard and the judges were extremely impressed by their depth of knowledge and the quality of their presentations. Overall, Hannah Clerc was the winner and will move onto the regional round next month.  Joseph Lewis received the award for best public speaker. Congratulations to all these students and to their mentor Mr Andrew Lamb.

During the holidays a most appreciative audience was treated to an afternoon of delightful piano playing by past student Campbell Kelly.

Campbell is presently completing his masters degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University in Brisbane.

It was great to have him return to play at the College.    We wish Campbell all the best in his future musical endeavours.

Rockhampton is in for a treat on Wednesday 21 February when American International Concert Organist Dan Miller plays the new organ at St Joseph’s Cathedral.

A Concert for school students will be held at 2.15pm followed by a workshop for musicians at 3pm.

That evening Dan will present a recital from 7-8.30pm in the Cathedral.  There is no charge and everyone is welcome!
