Cultural News

The Year 12 Graduation Mass and farewell ceremony last Thursday was a wonderful celebration for the TCC community. The Liturgy was enhanced by the singers and instrumentalists in the Music Ministry group. I congratulate these students and staff members for their efforts and thank them for the extra time and energy they put into rehearsals to ensure that this very important occasion in the life of the college was musically enriched.  The psalm was prayerfully sung by Year 12 student Madison Day.  I wish our senior students all the very best for the future.

Congratulations to the students in Miss Quinn’s Year 10 Drama class for entertaining a group of Year 2 students from Allenstown State School last Friday.  The young audience members were captivated by the fun-filled performances of the older students.

Thank you in advance to the students in the Music Ministry Group who will sing at the Advent Liturgy next Friday. I extend my appreciation to the students and staff in the Music Ministry Group for giving generously of their time and talents throughout the year to sing at College and Parish (especially the monthly Saturday evening) Masses.

The Rockhampton Musical Union Youth Choir will present 13 the Musical in the RMU Hall Denison Street on Friday 6 December, Saturday 7 December and Sunday 8 December. Lily Christensen, Spencer Green, Rose Keliher, Charlotte Lehmann and Tom Wakeman are cast members. We wish these students all the best for the show. Go to TryBooking.com for tickets.

The Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra and members of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra will combine to present “Silver Screen in Symphony” at the Pilbeam theatre this Friday 22 November at 7.30pm. The evening will include musical highlights from some of Hollywood’s biggest movie blockbusters – Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Superman, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean and many more. Year 10 students Catherine Andersen (violin) and Imea Thomas (viola) are members of the Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations girls for sharing your musical gifts with the wider community. Tickets are available at www.seeitlive.com.au

Many cultural opportunities are available to students here at TCC. I extend my grateful thanks to the staff members who give generously of their time and expertise, often above and beyond the call of duty, to ensure that the students at TCC are given the best possible cultural opportunities.

I offer a special thank you to the Sisters of Mercy for their friendship and most generous support.

Congratulations to all the students who have participated in cultural activities throughout the year. Thank you for your enthusiasm and willingness to have a go.

On the eve of my retirement may I take this opportunity to thank The Cathedral College community for the support and friendship I have received over the past 15 years. I have enjoyed my time at TCC which will always have a special place in my heart.

My heartfelt thanks to all.

I wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas.

God Bless
