Cultural News

The combined presentation of Cultural Awards and a Music Evening will take place on Thursday 25 October in the Mercy Centre.

Last week, invitations were emailed to the parents of students receiving cultural awards. To date 69 replies have been received via the Google link. If a reply is not received by Monday 22 October it will be assumed that the student will not be attending and his/her name will not be called.  A couple of weeks ago students were asked to forward to their parents the email they received listing their cultural achievements. This will ensure parents know exactly what award their son/daughter will be receiving.

The Cultural Awards’ Ceremony will commence at 5.30pm and conclude by 6.30pm. During the short break to prepare the space for the Music Evening, a sausage sizzle served by staff will be on sale on the deck outside the Mercy Centre. The music evening will be short. Three ensembles will perform and service medals and certificates will be presented to the Year 12 students.

Socks for girls and ties and trousers (if they have them), otherwise shorts, for the boys. This combined event will be livestreamed so families living out of town can watch the presentations and musical items.

Thank you to the string students who performed last Sunday at the Morning Tea Fundraiser – Breaking the Silence of Pregnancy and Infant Loss. Thank you and congratulations to Catherine Andersen, Justin Cowie, Hedrick Johnstone, Hellina Johnstone, Shae Pedersen, Walter Reid, Imea Thomas, Isabelle Ward and Brienna Wilkinson for giving generously of your time and talents. Thanks to past student Shelby Ward for playing with the group on this occasion. Thank you to Dr Hall for her continued musical efforts with the students.

The students in the Music Ministry Group will lead the singing at the TCC/Parish Mass this Saturday evening and at the Year 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Celebration Mass next Wednesday.
