Cultural News

The Year 12 Graduation Mass and farewell ceremony last Thursday was a wonderful TCC community celebration. It was enhanced by the singers and instrumentalists in the Music Ministry group. I congratulate these students and staff members for their efforts and thank them for the extra time and energy they put into rehearsals to ensure that this very important occasion in the life of the college was musically enriched.  The psalm was prayerfully sung by Year 12 student Afton Magnussen.  I wish our senior students all the very best for the future.

Congratulations to the students in Miss Quinn’s Year 10 Drama class for entertaining a group of Prep students from Allenstown State School last Friday.  The young audience members were captivated by the fun-filled performance of the older students.

Thank you in advance to the Year 7 and 8 students in the Music Ministry Group who will sing and play at the Middle School Advent Liturgy next Friday.

Year 9 students Catherine Andersen and Imea Thomas are members of the newly formed Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra. Catherine and Imea (string players) will perform in the ‘Night At The Proms’ concert this Saturday evening. Congratulations girls for sharing your musical gifts with the wider community.

Next year TCC will present the musical, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Auditions will take place very early next year. Students can sign up at the Student Counter.

I take this opportunity to thank the parents who have given generously of their time and energy to support the cultural pursuits of the college by their fundraising efforts.

Congratulations to all the students who have participated in cultural activities this year. Thank you for your enthusiasm and willingness to have a go.

Grateful thanks to the staff members who give generously of their time and expertise, often above and beyond the call of duty, to ensure that the students at TCC are given the best possible cultural opportunities.

I offer a special thank you to the Sisters of Mercy for their friendship and most generous support. Thank you to Mrs Mary Steer for her continued accompanying support of the College Choir.

I look forward to the cultural events and challenges of 2019.

Best wishes to all our readers for a happy, safe and peaceful Christmas.
