Cultural News

Congratulations to all students and their respective teachers for a wonderful evening of entertainment last night.  The TCC bands, choir, instrumental and vocal ensembles presented a most enjoyable concert program to a very appreciative audience.   Heartiest congratulations to all the students who performed.  A special thanks is extended to the ensemble directors, Miss Baker, Mrs Coughlan, Miss Hack, Dr Hall and Mrs Rodgers for their dedicated work with the various groups throughout the year. Thank you to the College IT staff (Mr Collins and Mr Hewitt) for live streaming the evening and technical genius Mr O’Shaughnessy for his most valuable assistance. Once again Miss Hack did a marvellous job as MC. Thank you to the students who ensured the smooth running of the evening by their backstage assistance.  Thanks to the parents in the Cultural Support Group who cooked and served the BBQ.  For their efforts we are most grateful.

Thank you to all who donated items for the multi-draw.

We are grateful to Mrs Pauline Crow for capturing our memorable moments on film.  During the evening we recognised the contributions made by our departing Year 12 students. GOLD awards (5 years of service); SILVER award (4 years of service); BRONZE (3 years of service); Certificate of Service (1 or 2 years).

We wish these young men and women all the best for the future and we hope that they will look back on these years with pride and a sense of great achievement.

On Thursday 26 October we will celebrate the cultural achievements of students here at TCC.  The presentations will commence at 5.30pm in the Mercy Centre.  Students will receive certificates for participating in cultural activities throughout the year.  As well as the general participation awards, special awards will be presented to students who represented the College at a Regional, State or Australian level.  The Oratory winners will be presented with their trophies and the evening will culminate with the announcement of the major cultural award winners. Invitations to families of students receiving awards were emailed last week.  Please respond via the google link even if the student won’t be present.  Following the presentations a BBQ will be on sale. The BBQ will be served by staff members to give the Cultural Support Group parents the opportunity to enjoy the evening with their families.

School uniforms will be worn. Socks for girls and ties and trousers (if they have them), otherwise shorts, for the boys.

The students in the Music Ministry Group sang at Mass on Saturday evening. The psalm was beautifully sung by Catherine Andersen. This is the last parish Mass at which the group will sing this year.  I thank them for giving generously of their time and talents throughout the year to serve our parish and College communities.

The Rockhampton Musical Union Choir will present the musical Les Misérables at the Pilbeam Theatre Friday 27- Sunday 29 October. Year 7 student Tom Wakeman shares the role of Gavroche. He will perform Friday at 7.30pm and Saturday at 1.30pm.  Ewan Beattie (Year 11) is a chorus member in the show.  Dial N’ Charge 49274111 or www.seeitlive.com.au.   Please see flyer in community notices.
