Cultural News

The Year 12 Graduation Mass and farewell ceremony last Thursday was enhanced by the singers and instrumentalists in the Music Ministry group. I congratulate these students for their efforts and thank them for the extra time and energy they put into rehearsals to ensure that this very important occasion in the life of the College was musically enriched.  The psalm was prayerfully sung by Year 12 student Nicholas Marxsen.  I wish our senior students all the very best for the future.

Thank you in advance to the Year 7 and 8 students in the Music Ministry Group who will sing and play at the Middle School Advent Liturgy this Friday.

The Rockhampton Little Theatre presented Oscar Wilde for Juniors at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre on the weekend.  The Happy Prince was performed by the junior members of the RLT (including some TCC students) and The Devoted Friend was performed by TCC Year 10 and 11 drama students. Congratulation to the director, our own Miss Quinn and the students on the performance of these great classic plays.

The Music Department is investigating a new program to make communication with parents and students an easier process. Parents will soon be emailed information so that new and returning students can enrol in the Instrumental Music Program.

The Rockhampton Musical Union Youth Choir presents Elf Junior, The Musical on Saturday/Sunday 2/3 December in the RMU Hall Denison Street. At 11am on Wednesday 22 November there were 2 seats left for the Saturday 3pm performance, 1 seat for the Saturday 7pm performance and 10 seats for the Sunday 3pm performance. If you want to see this great show don’t delay, book today.

I take this opportunity to thank the parents who have given generously of their time and energy to support the cultural pursuits of the College by their fundraising efforts.

Congratulations to all the students who have participated in cultural activities this year. Thank you for your enthusiasm and willingness to have a go.

Grateful thanks to the staff members who give generously of their time and expertise, often above and beyond the call of duty, to ensure that the students at TCC are given the best possible cultural opportunities.

I offer a special thank you to the Sisters of Mercy for their friendship and most generous support.

I look forward to the cultural events and challenges of 2018.

Best wishes to all our readers for a happy, safe and peaceful Christmas.

God Bless.
